NY: Gimmie! Coffee (Nolita)

Gimme! Coffee
Address: 228 Mott Street
Neighbourhood: Nolita
Borough: Manhatten, NYC

A great morning walk from our Greenwich apartment into the hood of Nolita (North of Little Itlay) brought us to Gimmie! Unlike our trip to Third Rail, I was spot on with directions to this charming hallway of a cafe.

For those in Toronto - if you think Sam James Coffee Pocket is small, this  narrow cafe gives SJCP a run for it's money.
Welcome to Manhattan - opening up their shop in 2008, they've seen a steady following of customers diving right into the cafe scene. It's a great location off of Broadway, and a hop n skip away from shopping mecca SoHo.

Machine: La Marzocco FB80
Doser: Mazzer Robur E
Turnover:High - Foot Track
Beans: Leftist Espresso
Blend: 2 beans from Brazil, 1 Kenya, 1 Guatemala and 1 Java
Music:Mazzer's
Seating: STANDING ROOM ONLY

Verdict: very bright attack on the palette with floral/muted citrus tones. As it cools there is an incredible silky mouthfeel and reassuring memory.
The barista at this joint were super inviting, and really wanted to know about the whole concept of my "Espresso Adventures". Great chats, good care of their shots - as they re poured it twice and the preparation was great.
NYC seems to be a huge fan of two things: No washrooms and FB80s..

Also good local feel, and knowledge about the area. We really wanted from New York Bagels... and BAM they directed us to Russ & Son.
Definitely will be back to Gimmie!
They're also in the works of opening a shop in Williamsburgh...
