Bisgono Espresso Bar

Bisogno Espresso Bar
Address: 61 Sherbourne Street
Neighbourhood: Sherbourne&Adelaide

What's so special about Bisogno on Sherbourne?
It's like you step into someones main floor of an antique house. Not only do they have a long dining table,  and high backed dinning chairs, but adoring books shelves as well. Not the mention the back corner coffee table with matching vintage lounging sofas, it's only a matter of time before you pick up one of the national geographic magazines that lie around the cafe.
Don't be fooled by the decor, it's not just a fancy place to sit, these guys know their coffee, and they do it well.

Machine: La Marzocco Linea (2 Group)
Doser: Mazzer Robus
Turnover: Medium-Constant
Beans: Detour Punch Buggy, Finca La Perla, and Rufino
Music: Jazz, light music
Indie Coffee Passport: YES

Von, owner of Bisogno Espresso Bar has transformed this ground level low ceiling storefront into a caffeince heaven for the void between Queen and St. Lawrence Market. He offers up to 3 different beans on any given day. He keeps the Rufino espresso (more northern Italian style), on this day a featured single-origin Guatemalan Finca La Perla , Punch Buggy (lighter sweeter espresso) both from Detour.

Detour's Guatemalan Finca La Perla

Verdict: balanced sweetness with more cocoa flavour, at the end you get this resounding mouth feel and texture similar to having eaten a ripe Bartlett pear, but just subtle hints of pear. But that grainy feel makes you want more.

  1. I've had the pleasure of having the best americano and capuccino of my life here.
