Brunchin: Beast

Spotted: Papua New Guinea
Method: French Press
Where: Beast Restaurant - 96 Teucumseh
Roaster: Toi and Moi
Located: Montreal. QC

French Press to share is always a good bet when brunching with best friends.

To add to the experience, a Maple-Bacon Doughnut. Mmmmmm.
O Canada. Eh?!

Verdict: pleasantly smooth, nice body, spicy notes.
Overall: as Saveur article goes... It paired well. The richness and fats in the treat picked up the spicy, balanced chocolate/ pear notes in the PNG.

M^4: NYcC this past weekend

M^4: Coffee's notable news...

Coffee Common busted onto the seen for a 4 day pop-up experience in Chelsea this past weekend. Read up and experience the ride with smdlr, through the vivid photos and amazing write-up, I felt as if I got a "fly on the wall" view of the event.

Bamboo Tampers... whoa

In case you missed it "Shit Barista Say..." (youtube) Thanks Sprudge

In response to what I made for Sunday Brunch:
Apple smoked Chardonnay Chicken Sausages, caramelized onions, organic Rye, velvety soft scrambled eggs and slices of ripe avocado..... super yummy! (not in photo DH Americano) Gluten-Free!

Sunday being lazy, or indulging in brunch

As I've mentioned before, I really enjoy breakfast. Well brunch is actually my best meal of I'm a tardy waking up... But the combinations are endless.

Been focusing on some external projects and making delicious food experiments.

Makings of great adventure.... I'll post up the end result after the magic of cooking finishes

Food for Thought: Blake House

Blake House
Address: 449 Jarvis Street
Neighbourhood:
Downtown/the Village
website, @twitter, Tel: (416) 975-1867

Nestled on the historic street of Jarvis, steps away from Yonge Street and the Village, shines one of the longest historic building first established 1891. Designed by Knox & Elliot, housed the second Premier of Ontario the Honourable Edward Blake. (For my American friends - it's equivalent to Governors)
With a Front Patio, and ample choices for Brunch I was glad to get back to my old stomping grounds.

Food for Thought: The Bellevue

Hump day - Wednesday - will feature a new section of restaurants.

The Bellevue
Address: 61A Bellevue Avenue (corner of Nassau and Bellevue)
Neighbourhood: Kensington Market
Meal: Brunch

Breakfast is the most essential meal of the day - but second to that is Brunch. Tucked in that time zone where you've clearly woke up later than the usual 7am, and drifted past your start time for conventional business hours. You've now creeped into the "sleeping in" time of 10am. Not quite feeling like a bowl of cereal as your appetite will not be sated. Too early for soup and sandwich, but the craving is ever so present.... Now what?. That's how I feel about brunch. The joyous meal, where Breakfast and Lunch foods come together. Quite happy with the fusion brunch culture in Toronto.

Food for Thought: Fresh (Bloor)

New installment: Brunch Sundays to insprie...
Where did I venture to on my lazy Sundays....

Fresh by Juice for Life
Address: 222 Bloor Street West
Neighbourhood: Annex
website

Fresh by Juice for life has been an Annex charm for years - since 1999 to be exact. Serving only Vegan style menu, with fresh blends of smoothies. Focusing on sourcing locally and their sustainable footprint, it's a conscious decision by mastermind Ruth Tal - and backed by a team of 3 other like-minded investors.
Why choose to go to Fresh?
Local ingredients, made with caring cooks and to boot it's vegan - which pleases a majority of my friends.
Inclusion is key when you live in this multi-cultural city, and vegetables can't go wrong here..... veggies unite!

Down to the Coffee:
Machine: 2 group Elektra
Grinder: Unknown
Beans: Fresh Blend
Composition: Special Custom Blend for Medium Roasted Beans
Roaster: The Fresh Coffee Network
Located: Toronto

Verdict: Balanced brightness with a dry finish. Couldn't decipher the composition, but I'm thinking that they had a couple of African coffees to give a nice smooth chocolate flavour, but a good acid: to the tone of meyer lemon, where you get hints of tangy lemon with citrus finish.

Considering places in TO serve up half-ass espresso at restaurants, or have "barista" partially trained. Decent.
What did I order?
Summerlicious tribute by Fresh,
Daily Special of a bowl: Ninja (on Rice)
Daily Drink: Chi-Spa
